Nobody Likes You. Everyone Left You. They're All Out Without You Having Fun

My MYSPACE PAGE!

For The Time They Are A-Changin'

BEFORE YOU GO FREAKING OUT...most of the settings on this myspace are still default. This will be changed as time allows.

I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT ALL OF YOU...There is massive amounts of talk about a show in December with Troy Hutson

I've also invited The Shiny Anytime...although that has yet to be talked about in full. It's a two person musical talent from Missouri composed of a friend and a friend of a friend. Check them out here- www.myspace.com/theshinyanytime

This will be the last LJ update for a while...although the www.livejournal.com/eastboundmusic journal will have an update within a week. I swear on it.

This journal will be deleted in the next week.

Thank you for your love and comments...and in some cases, downright stupidity (though always in good fun)

Singing I Told You Son, The Day Would Come..You Would Die, You'd Die, You'd Die, You'd Die

RANDOM MEMORY:

Fuzzy Grimwald (Tim Cote, Frank Rohr, Trace Rogers, and myself) were practicing in Tim's basement. Trace and Frank were rocking out to these psuedo-metal riffs they used to come up with in what I called "not Evan's time." Frank suggested that we start developing these metal songs, and perform under a pseudonym...one he called Gay Box Of Doughnuts. For a couple of hours, we came up with wonderfully ambitious ideas of full-on costumes and antics. Then it came time to write. Nothing. We decided to put off the writing, and instead book ourselves opening for ourselves at a very near show. We began circulating rumors about this "terribly awesome band" of "middle-aged true metalheads" that we had convinced to come to town and open for us. Jimmy Ginal became particularly fanatic, and the rumors got out of control. I remember telling Jimmy that they "were dropped from their label because they argued with the pr man about not selling them as metal enough."

Eventually, Gay Box Of Doughnuts became a real band...composed of Richard, Tim Cote, and Craig Kitchen. Their performances were done in the parking lot of our high school. I immediately distanced myself from the project.

I don't know why and I'm sure I haven't properly conveyed it here...but these memories are bringing back a lot of laughter.

And who could forget Craig's Jesus Dance? Priceless...(except that time Chris Guild convinced him to do it for a dollar).

ps...small real update...saw spoon the other day. Great show, lots of fun. Erin bought me "gimme fiction" on vinyl. She spoils me. :)

I Crossed My Fingers, But I Didn't Beg. 'Cause I Knew You Knew I Liked You

Zej's last night at soho...we're taking turns making diarrhea runs...a little gross, but I'm being honest here. Went and saw Bright Eyes/The Faint two nights...and then Rilo Kiley the following night. The Faint and Rilo Kiley were wonderful...Bright eyes was good, but the faint blew them out of the water. Someone tell Troy Hutson to call me so we can do a show in September. I guess that's it. The Eels has been added to concerts to go to this summer, which is excellent :). Life with Erin is great, and everything else is going smoothly. All is good. I guess that wraps it all up pretty nicely.

All Her Babies Strung Across The Bathroom Floor

2 months since an update...things have been hectic. Quit the coffee shop job, tried my hand at waiting...and now I'm coming back to the coffee shop. Erin has been crazy busy with graduation/thesis/apartment/finals madness...but soon she'll get some rest :). Meeting her family this weekend...wish me luck (at least more luck than Nichols has had this week...sorry man, couldn't resist). Apparently I'll be in Lawrence around the end of September. 2 months and I guess that's all I have to say. Saw Q And Not U, The Decemberists, and Built To Spill. Before summer's end...Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes/The Faint (2 nights!), Alkaline Trio, The Get Up Kids, Spoon (who has a great new record, by the way), and Green Day. I'm very very very excited. And very excited for next week, when my baby can get some rest. I LOVE YOU ERIN!!!

I'm Not Your Second, I'm Not Your Third...I'll Be Your Bird

what a wonderful week...it seems spring break is best when you aren't in school. err, enrolled...because even if you are enrolled, I guess you aren't in school for spring break. Started reading House Of Leaves...and tonight I got a call from Chris G at Frank/Heather's party. It was good to talk to him, and great to talk to Matt Cook and Mae. That's all.

NEW USER ICON...greatest on livejournal? fuck yeah

After spending a lot of tonight reading various things on Blinking Lights and Other Revelations (the upcoming Eels album...out in April)...it has the potential to be one of the most beautiful records of the year.

To All The People Underground Listening To The Sounds Of The People Moving Up And Down

The last few days have been incredible. Had a shitty week last week, but a certain someone has really been awesome (as always) and kept me in a great mood. I like it :). Think I'm ready to try and quit smoking again. I love Erin Gamble more than the new M. Ward album...and I looove the new m. ward album.

If The Snow Covers My Neighborhood, Then I'll Dig A Tunnel From My Window To Yours

been going through some serious mood swings. Tried to talk to a few people back home about shit. Thanks to John Nichols and Andrew Richardson for being able to talk about something other than themselves. And yes, that's a personal attack on a few other people who read this.

Also, thanks to Erin and Tim for always helping to keep me sane.

Count It A Blessing That You're Such A Failure...Your Second Chance Might Never Have Come

so I hadn't written any new songs in a few months. About 24 hours I sat down with the Gretsch and see what happened. What happened was I wrote two songs that are the start of an experiment. A story album based on Dylan's "Lily, Rosemary, And The Jack Of Hearts" (from Blood on the Tracks).

I'll post the lyrics to the two tracks in the next couple of days.

And In The Face Of Every Criminal Strapped Firmly To A Chair. We Must Stare, We Must Stare...

Hello all. I'm at Erin's place, waiting for her to return from class, so I thought I'd give you all an update. Been working a lot, and talking to my parents about a range of subjects from life with them at home, to my return to college. that's right, i said return to college. There's a lot of looking into for that, of course, but when I have more details, I'll let everyone know. Erin, Tim, and I went to the Bright Eyes/CocoRosie/Tilly And The Wall show on Saturday. There's a recorded version of the whole thing at www.npr.org , so that's pretty exciting. The show was wonderful. However, I hadn't eaten anything but a pop tart all day, and it was the first show I went to since turning twenty-one. So by my fourth alcoholic beverage, I was pretty intoxicated. It didn't stop me from having a wonderful time though. Tim and I got tickets to see Wilco next month. And there are talks of the Low/Pedro The Lion show next week. Hope you're all having a wonderful time.

and Saturday was Kansas day...so happy belated Kansas Day!!!

The Arc Of Time. The Stench Of Sex. The Innocence You Can't Protect.

I've always preferred to take the bad news before the good news...so that's how I'm going to deliver it. This entry is not allowed to have comments, for reasons that should soon be obvious.

Sally Price is the mother of Jon Price, who many of you may remember from our younger days. Jon played drums in the first band I was ever in (No Assembly Required). Mrs. Price (as she was known) was killed in an automobile accident last night. Sally's endless patience, constant providing of basic nourishments, kindness in transportations to our few gigs, and overwhelming kindness are few things among the many that made knowing her a joy. She won't be forgotten.

It's been an awkward few days of ups and downs. Problems with the family back home, complaints at work, and slight exhaustion have had me kind of down. Erin and I hit 5 months today, which is awesome. My personal life here is good, but things going on back home are terrible. Thanks again to Erin for her patience when things get me down, and listening. It's amazing how few people in the world really listen. I'm endlessly thankful that I have a few of them in my life.

r.i.p. Sally Price

And I've Been Preoccupied With The Sick Six Senses

how about a real update? I'll do what I can...

Jon Leonard moved to Indiana so my album has been pushed back to god knows when...but I hate the songs on it, because I no longer feel anything for them. Is it worth it to release it? probably not...but i'd at least like to record them. I picked up the guitar a little today though, and it felt good. Started working on...ready for this?...happy songs. Yeah, I know. But it felt really good. I've spent a good portion of the day trying to list my happy songs. So far I've come up with...

well, none. So I'm excited to give it a shot. I guess I never really said how I felt about my trip about Kansas. Going back was fun and I loved seeing everyone that I did (with a couple of exceptions, but that's to be expected), but I don't see myself moving back. Ever. So I'm glad to get that out there, because everything felt strange and not like home and like something was holding me back and making me feel mediocre or even inadequate...which a lot of my actions were(EDIT: that reference was to the time I lived in Kansas, not to when I visited). I'm sorry, that was an awful run-on sentence, I hope you all made it through that okay. Most of it wasn't anything to do with the people that read this journal, i'd say a lot of it was my family, but life with them is great through distance. I love them greatly, but I'm not coming back.

today was a beautiful day, and I just wanted to type that in here so that I wouldn't forget how awesome it was. And to top it all off, my new bright eyes albums are waiting at home.
